To amend the Energy Policy Act of 2005 to direct Federal research in fossil energy and to promote the development and demonstration of environmentally responsible coal and natural gas technologies, and for other purposes.

Sponsor: Rep. Marc Veasey — D — TX

Authorizes appropriations totaling $4.6 billion over the 2020-2025 period for the Department of Energy’s fossil energy research and development activities and authorizes the appropriation of $15 million for the department to carry out prize competitions for ideas that reduce carbon emissions from fossil fuel-based energy production.
