To establish the Commission on Intergovernmental Relations of the United States to facilitate the fullest cooperation, coordination, and mutual accountability among all levels of government, and for other purposes.

Sponsor: Rep. Gerald Connolly — D — VA

Establishes a commission to facilitate interactions between the federal government and state, local, and tribal governments. The commission would consist of 31 members with two-year terms. The commission would report on its activities to the Congress at least annually and provide recommendations on improving relationships, performance, and coordination among all levels of government. Members would serve without pay but would be reimbursed for travel expenses. In addition, the commission could hire staff and use employees detailed from other agencies.
