To amend the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act to allow certain individuals to terminate contracts for telephone, multichannel video programming, or internet access service, and for other purposes.

Sponsor: Rep. Josh Harder — D — CA

Allows the spouse or dependent of a service member or reservist who dies while in military service, or who incurs a catastrophic injury or illness, to cancel telephone, cable, and internet service contracts without penalty. Under current law, only service members may terminate these contracts without penalty if the service member receives orders to move to a location that the service provider does not cover.
