Biography

Barbara Lee is a Representative from California. Born in El Paso, TX, in 1946, she earned her B.A. from Mills College in 1973 and her M.S.W. from the University of California in 1975. She served on staff to United States Representative Ronald V. Dellums of California from 1975-1987. She was a member of the California state assembly from 1991-1997 and a member of the California state senate from 1997-1998.

She was elected to the 105th Congress by special election to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of United States Representative Ron Dellums, and reelected to the nine succeeding Congresses (April 7, 1998-present).
