Dwight Evans is a Representative from Pennsylvania. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1954, he earned his A.A. at the Community College of Philadelphia in 1973 and his B.A. from La Salle University in 1975. He worked as a teacher, an employment counselor for the Urban League of Philadelphia, was a member of the Pennsylvania state house of representatives from 1980-2016, an unsuccessful candidate for nomination for lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania in 1986, an unsuccessful candidate for nomination for Governor of Pennsylvania in 1994, and an unsuccessful candidate for nomination as Mayor of Philadelphia in 1999 & 2007. He was elected simultaneously as a Democrat to the 114th and the 115th Congresses, by special election, to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of United States Representative Chaka Fattah (November 8, 2016-present).
