Biography

Elissa Slotkin is a Representative from Michigan. Born in Holly, MI, she earned her A.B. from Cornell University in 1998 and her M.A. from Columbia University in 2003. She was a nonprofit staffer, consultant, and an analyst for the Central Intelligence Agency from 2003-2005 and 2006-2007. She worked on staff for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence from 2005-2006, for the National Security Council from 2007-2009, for the United States Department of State from 2009-2011, and for the United States Department of Defense from 2011-2015. She was Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense from 2015-2017 and elected to the 116th Congress (January 3, 2019-present).
