Biography

Joe Biden is the President, a former Senator from Delaware, and the former Vice President of the United States. Born in Scranton, Pa. in 1942, he graduated from the University of Delaware in 1965 and Syracuse University College of Law in 1968. He was admitted to the Delaware bar in 1969 and commenced practice in Wilmington. He also served on the New Castle County Council from 1970-1972 and was elected as a Democrat to the United States Senate in 1972 and reelected in 1978, 1984, 1990, 1996, 2002, and again in 2008. He resigned to become Vice President on January 15, 2009. He was the chair of the Committee on the Judiciary (100th through 103rd Congresses) and the Committee on Foreign Relations (107th Congress - 110th Congress). He was an unsuccessful candidate for the Democratic nomination for president in 2008, but was elected Vice President of the United States on the Democratic ticket headed by Barack Obama in 2008 and reelected in 2012. Biden later defeated Donald Trump and serves as President (January 20, 2021-present).
