Biography

Steve Chabot is a Representative from Ohio. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1953, he earned his B.A. from the College of William and Mary in 1975 and his J.D. from Salmon P. Chase College of Law in 1978. He worked as a teacher from 1975-1976, was a member of the Cincinnati, Ohio city council from 1985-1990, and served as the Hamilton County, Ohio commissioner from 1990-1994. He was elected as a Republican to the 104th and to the six succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1995-January 3, 2009).

He also served as one of the managers appointed by the House of Representatives in 1998 to conduct the impeachment proceedings of President William Jefferson Clinton, ran unsuccessfully for reelection to the 111th Congress in 2008, but was elected again as a Republican to the 112th and to the three succeeding Congresses (January 3, 2011-present).

He is the chair of the Committee on Small Business (114th and 115th Congresses).
