Tomasz Malinowski is a Representative from New Jersey. Born in Slupsk, Poland, he earned his B.A. from the University of California, Berkley, in 1987. He was a Rhodes Scholar and earned his M.Phil. from Oxford University in 1991. He was a nonprofit staffer and executive and worked on staff for United States Senator Daniel P. Moynihan of New York in 1988. He was on staff for United States Department of State from 1994-1998 and the National Security Council from 1998-2001. He was Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor for the United States Department of State from 2014-2017 and was elected to the 116th Congress (January 3, 2019-present).
