Virginia Ann Foxx is a Representative from North Carolina. Born in New York, New York in 1943, she earned her A.B. from the University of North Carolina in 1968, her M.A.C.T. from the University of North Carolina in 1972 and her Ed.D. from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro in 1985. She was an instructor at both Caldwell Community College and Appalachian State University. She also served as the assistant dean at Appalachian State University and president of Mayland Community College from 1987-1994. Additionally, she was a landscape nursery owner, the deputy secretary for management for the North Carolina Department of Administration, a member of the Watauga County, N.C. board of education from 1976-1988, and a member of the North Carolina state senate from 1994-2004. She was elected as a Republican to the 109th and to the six succeeding Congresses (January 3, 2005-present).
