David Vitter is a Senator from Louisiana. Born in New Orleans, LA, in 1961, he earned his A.B. from Harvard University in 1983. He was a Rhodes Scholar and earned his B.A. from Oxford University in 1985 and his J.D. from Tulane University School of Law in 1988. He was a member of the Louisiana state house of representatives from 1992-1999 and elected to the 106th Congress by special election to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of United States Representative Robert L. Livingston, Jr.. He was subsequently reelected to the two succeeding Congresses (May 29, 1999-January 3, 2005) and elected to the United States Senate from 2004 to 2017. He chaired Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship (114th Congress).
