Haiti Development, Accountability, and Institutional Transparency Initiative Act

Sponsor: Rep. Bill Johnson — R — OH

Directs the Department of State and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to prioritize support for human rights, anti-corruption, free press, civil liberties, reconstruction, and development in their engagement with Haiti. It also requires the agencies to develop a strategy to support those efforts and report to the Congress on their progress. Finally, the bill requires the department to brief the Congress on a mass killing in Haiti in 2018.
