116th Congress
Sponsor: Rep. Elaine Luria — D — VA
Requires the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to provide additional information on student outcomes such as graduation rates, employment rates, and median earnings for graduates. VA provides information on its website about VA education benefits, educational institutions, and other providers of education and training. That information includes topics of particular interest to veterans, such as whether the institution accepts GI Bill benefits and the types of resources the institution provides for veterans. The website also provides information concerning each institution’s accreditation, estimated costs, student outcomes, regulatory compliance, and other performance metrics. While VA, the Department of Education, the Department of Defense, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau currently share some information, the bill would require those agencies to share additional data. The bill also requires VA to obtain the information specified in the bill from the Department of Labor, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and the Census Bureau.
