To direct the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to carry out a pilot program on food insecurity, and for other purposes.

Sponsor: Rep. Sara Jacobs — D — CA

Requires the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to provide grants over a five-year period to entities to address food insecurity among veterans and their families, including veterans who recently transitioned from active duty in the military and Native American veterans. Grant recipients would help veterans and their families enroll in federal food assistance programs or participate in nutrition counseling and education. They could also provide direct food assistance. The bill also requires VA to provide two reports to the Congress on food insecurity among veterans and the effectiveness of the grants awarded.
