A bill to require a United States security strategy for the Western Hemisphere, and for other purposes.
Sponsor: Sen. Marco Rubio — R — FL
Requires the Departments of Defense and State to develop and submit to the Congress a multi-year strategy on increasing diplomatic and security cooperation with countries in the Western Hemisphere. The bill also requires the departments to brief the Congress on their implementation of the strategy. Lastly, the bill requires the Department of State to report to the Congress on the Venezuelan government’s efforts to detain U.S. citizens and residents.
