Daniel M. Donovan Jr. was a Representative from New York. Born in Staten Island, N.Y. in 1956, he earned his B.A. from St. Johns University in 1978 and his J.D. from Fordham University in 1988. He served as a detective investigator, youth counselor, and the Manhattan, N.Y. assistant district attorney from 1989-1996. He was also staff for the Staten Island, N.Y. borough president Guy V. Molinari from 1996-2002, the Staten Island, N.Y. deputy borough president from 2002-2003, and the Richmond County, N.Y. district attorney from 2003-2015. He was elected as a Republican to the 114th Congress, by special election, to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of United States Representative Michael G. Grimm and to the succeeding Congress. He was defeated in the 2018 general election.
