Biography

David Lee Camp was a Representative from Michigan. Born in Midland, MI, in 1953, he attended the University of Sussex, Brighton, England, from 1973-1974, and earned his B.A. from Albion College in 1975 and J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1978.

He was a member of the Midland County, MI., board of canvassers and the Midland County, MI, Republican executive committee, as well as special assistant attorney general, Michigan state attorney general, from 1980-1984.

He worked on staff for United States Representative Bill Schuette of Michigan from 1984-1987 and was a member of the Michigan state house of representatives from 1989-1990. He was elected to the 102nd and to the eleven succeeding Congresses ( 1991-2015). He chaired the Committee on Ways and Means (112th and 113th Congresses) and the Joint Committee on Taxation (113th Congress). He was not a candidate for reelection to the 114th Congress in 2014.
