Denny Heck is a Representative from Washington. He was born in Vancouver, Washington on July 29, 1952. He earned his B.A. from Evergreen State College in 1973 and attended Portland State University from 1974-1975. Before serving in Congress, he was a businessman, television broadcaster, member of the Washington state house of representatives from 1976-1986, minority leader of the Washington state house of representatives from 1977-1985, chief clerk of the Washington state house of representatives from 1985-1987, and an unsuccessful candidate for election to the United States House of Representatives in 2010. He was elected as a Democrat to the 113th and to the two succeeding Congresses (January 3, 2013-present).
