Richard Norman (Doc) Hastings is a Representative from Washington. Born in Spokane, Wash. in 1941, he attended Columbia Basin College from 1959-1961 and Central Washington State University in 1964. He served in the United States Army Reserves from 1963-1969, was a small businessman, a member of the Washington state house of representatives from 1979-1987 and a delegate to the Republican National Convention from 1976-1984. He was also an unsuccessful candidate for election to the United States House of Representatives in 1992 and was elected as a Republican to the 104th and reelected to the nine succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1995-January 3, 2015). He was not a candidate for reelection to the 114th Congress in 2014. He was the chair of the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct (109th Congress) and the chair of the Committee on Natural Resources (112th and 113th Congresses).
