Mike Honda was a Representative from California. Born in Walnut Grove, CA, in 1941, he earned his B.A. from San Jose State University in 1968 and his M.A. from San Jose State University in 1974. He served in the United States Peace Corps from 1965-1967. He was a member of the San Jose, CA, planning commission from 1971-1981, was a member of the San Jose, CA unified school board from 1981-1990, and a member of the Santa Clara County, CA. board of supervisors from 1990-1996. He also served in the California state assembly from 1997-2000. He was elected to the 107th and to the seven succeeding Congresses (January 3,
2001-January 3, 2017).
