Ralph Hall was a Representative from Texas. Born in Fate, Texas in 1923, he attended Texas Christian University in 1943 and the University of Texas, Austin from 1946-1947. He earned his LL.B. from Southern Methodist University in 1951. He served in the United States Navy from 1942-1945 and worked as a private practice lawyer and business executive. Additionally, he was the Rockwall County judge from1950-1962 and a member of the Texas state senate from 1962-1972. He was elected as a Democrat to the 97th and to the eleven succeeding Congresses. He changed from a Democrat to a Republican on January 5, 2004 (January 3, 1981-January 5, 2004) and served as a Republican in the 108th, and reelected to the five succeeding Congresses (January 5, 2004-January 3, 2015). He was an unsuccessful candidate for renomination to the 114th Congress in 2014. He served as chair of the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology (112th Congress).
