Rodney Alexander was a Representative from Louisiana. Born in Quitman in Jackson Parish on December 5, 1946, he graduated from Jonesboro-Hodge High School in Jonesboro in 1964. He graduated from the University of Louisiana-Monroe before serving in the United States Air Force reserve from 1965-1971. An insurance agent and businessman, he was a member of the Louisiana state house of representatives from 1987-2002 before being elected as a Democrat to the 108th Congress. He changed from a Democrat to a Republican on August 9, 2004, and was reelected as a Republican to the 109th and four succeeding Congresses until his resignation on September 27, 2013. He served from January 3, 2003- September 27, 2013.
