Biography

John Wright Hickenlooper, (great-nephew of Bourke Blakemore Hickenlooper) is a Senator from Colorado born in Narbeth, PA on February 7, 1952. He graduated from The Haverford School in Haverford, PA in 1970 before earning his B.A. in English from Wesleyan University in 1974 and his M.S. in geology from Wesleyan in 1980. A geologist and brewpub owner, he served as mayor of Denver from 2003-2011 and then governor of Colorado from 2011-2019. He was an unsuccessful candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020 before being elected as a Democrat to the United States Senate in 2020 for the term ending January 3, 2027.
