116th Congress

To transfer the responsibility of verifying small business concerns owned and controlled by veterans or service-disabled veterans to the Small Business Administration, and for other purposes.

Sponsor: Rep. Trent Kelly — R — MS

Transfers the responsibility for maintaining a database of veteran-owned small businesses (VOSBs) to the Small Business Administration (SBA) starting two years after enactment. VA and SBA would share the responsibility to maintain the database for the two years before the transfer. Under current law, VOSBs, including those owned by service-disabled veterans, are eligible for special consideration when applying for federal contracts. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) currently maintains the database of businesses and owners that are eligible to receive such consideration.
