Legislation Details

116th Congress

To amend title 38, United States Code, to require the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to make available to veterans certain additional information about postsecondary educational institutions, and for other purposes.

Sponsor: Rep. Norma Torres — D — CA

Requires the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to include additional information about institutions of higher learning on the GI Bill Comparison Tool, the department’s website where it provides information on education benefits. That website provides information about institutions on topics of particular interest to veterans, such as the types of veteran resources on campus and the institutions’ acceptance of GI Bill benefits. The website also provides information concerning each institution’s accreditation, estimated costs, student outcomes, regulatory compliance, and other performance metrics. The bill would add requirements to provide information regarding whether the institution of higher learning admits students of only one gender, is affiliated with a religion, or primarily serves racial or ethnic minorities.
