Legislation Details

116th Congress

To amend the Homeland Security Act of 2002 to limit to five years the term of the Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection Agency of the Department of Homeland Security, and for other purposes.

Sponsor: Rep. John Katko — R — NY

Limits the tenure of the Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) to no more than two terms of five years each. The bill also would establish prerequisite qualifications for individuals who would be appointed to that position. The bill codifies the Administration’s current policies for the position of CISA Director; thus, CBO estimates that implementing the bill would not affect federal spending.
