To direct the United States Government to support extending the mandate of the Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on Venezuela which is set to expire in September 2022.

Sponsor: Rep. Albio Sires — D — NJ

Requires the Department of State to support extending the mandate of a United Nations fact-finding mission on alleged violations of human rights in Venezuela; the mission’s mandate expires in September 2022. The bill also directs the department to encourage other U.N. member states to follow suit and to urge the United Nations to address any such violations. Lastly, H.R. 8813 requires the department to incorporate the mission’s findings in developing U.S. policy towards Venezuela and to report to the Congress on its implementation of the bill.
