A bill to require the Secretary of State to determine whether the Russian Federation should be designated as a state sponsor of terrorism and whether Russian-sponsored armed entities in Ukraine should be designated as foreign terrorist organizations.

Sponsor: Sen. Cory Gardner — R — CO

Requires the Department of State to determine whether the Russian Federation should be designated a state sponsor of terrorism and whether armed entities operating in Ukraine that are supported by Russia should be designated as foreign terrorist organizations. The bill would require the department to report those determinations to the Congress within 90 days of enactment. Designated countries are ineligible for U.S. assistance and certain exports, and designated entities face restrictions on financial and property interests and on travel to the United States.
