David Eugene Price is a Representative from North Carolina. Born in Erwin, Tennessee in 1940, he attended Mars Hill College from 1957-1959, earned his B.A. from the University of North Carolina in 1961, his B.D. from Yale University in 1964, and his Ph.D. from Yale University in 1969. He was faculty at Yale University from 1967-1973 and was a professor at Duke University from 1973-1986 and 1995-1996. He also served as staff for United States Senator Edward Lewis Bartlett of Alaska from 1963-1967, the staff director for the commission on the presidential nomination for the Democratic National Committee from 1981-1982, and the chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party from 1983-1984. He was elected as a Democrat to the 100th and to the three succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1987-January 3, 1995).
He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the 104th Congress in 1994, before being elected as a Democrat to the 105th and to the ten succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1997-present).
