Biography

Julia Letlow, a Representative from Louisiana, was born in Monroe on March 16, 1981 and graduated from the Ouachita Christian High School in Monroe. She earned her B.A. from the University of Louisiana in Monroe in 2002, her M.A. in 2005, and her Ph.D. from the University of South Florida in 2011. An ombudsperson and special projects coordinator at the University of Louisiana, she later was director of education, resident patient safety, and quality improvement, and a clinical instructor at Tulane University, director of marketing and communications at the University of Louisiana, and executive director of external affairs and strategic communications at University of Louisiana from 2018-2019. An executive assistant to the president for external affairs and community outreach at University of Louisiana, she was elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Seventeenth Congress, by special election, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of her husband, United States Representative-elect Luke J. Letlow (March 20, 2021-present).
