Kurt Schrader is a Representative from Oregon. Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1951, he earned his B.A. from Cornell University in 1973, his B.S. from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 1975, and his D.V.M. from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 1977. He was a veterinarian, farmer, a member of the Oregon state house of representatives from 1997-2003, and a member of the Oregon state senate from 2003-2008. He was elected as a Democrat to the 111th and to the four succeeding Congresses (January 3, 2009-present).
