Sander Martin Levin (brother of Carl Levin) is
a Representative from Michigan. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 6, 1931.
He received his B.A. from the University of Chicago in 1952, his M.A. from Columbia University in 1954, and his LL.B. from Harvard University in 1957.
He was a member of the Michigan state senate from 1965-1970, and was an unsuccessful candidate for Governor of Michigan in 1970 and 1974. He served as an administrator for the United States Agency for International Development from 1977-1981.
He was a delegate to the Democratic National Conventions in 1964 and 1968. He was elected as a Democrat to the Ninety-eighth and to the seventeen succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1983-present).
He chaired the Committee on Ways and Means for the One Hundred Eleventh Congress.
