Charles Ernest "Chuck" Grassley is a Senator from Iowa. Born in New Hartford, IA, in 1933, he graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1955 and received a graduate degree from the same university in 1956. He pursued graduate work at the University of Iowa from 1957-1958 and was a part-time university instructor and member of the Iowa house of representatives from 1959-1974.
He was elected in 1974 to the 94h Congress and reelected to the 95th and 96th Congresses (January 3, 1975-January 3, 1981). In 1980, he was elected to the Senate. He has chaired the Special Committee on Aging (105th Congress), Committee on Finance (107th, 108th, and 109th Congresses), and the Committee on the Judiciary (114th Congress).
