Biography

Kamala Harris was a Senator from California. Born in Oakland, California in 1964, she earned her B.A. from Howard University in 1986 and her J.D. from University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1989 and was admitted to the California bar in 1990.

She served as the deputy district attorney in Alameda County, California from 1990-1998, the managing attorney at the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office, the chief of the San Francisco City Attorney’s Division on Children and Families, the district attorney of San Francisco from 2004-2011, and the attorney general of California 2011-2016. She was elected as a Democrat to the United States Senate in 2016 for the term ending January 3, 2023.
