Biography

Alan Lowenthal is a Representative from California. Born in Manhattan, NY, in 1941, he earned his B.A. from Hobart College in 1962, his M.A. from Ohio State University in 1965, and his Ph.D. from Ohio State University in 1967.

He has been a professor and psychologist, and was a member of the Long Beach, CA, city council from 1992-1998. He was also a member of the California state assembly from 1998-2004 and a member of the California state senate from 2004-2012 .

He was elected to the 113th and to the succeeding Congress (January 3, 2013-present).
