Lauren Underwood is a Representative from Illinois. Born in Mayfield Heights, OH, she earned her B.S.N. from the University of Michigan in 2008 and her M.S.N./M.P.H. from Johns Hopkins University in 2009. She was a nurse, professor, and senior advisor to the United States Department of Health and Human Services from 2014-2017 before being elected to the 116th Congress (January 3, 2019-present).
