Biography

Louie Gohmert is a Representative from Texas. Born in Pittsburg, Texas in 1953, he earned his B.A. from Texas A&M University in 1975 and his J.D. from Baylor University in 1977. He served in the United States Army from 1978-1982, was a private practice lawyer, a district judge in Smith County, Texas from 1992-2002, and the chief justice for the twelfth circuit court from 2002-2003. He was elected as a Republican to the 109th and to the six succeeding Congresses (January 3, 2005-present).
