Peter Anthony DeFazio is a Representative from Oregon. Born in Needham, Massachusetts in 1947, he earned his B.A. from Tufts University in 1969, and his M.A. from the University of Oregon in 1977. He served as a United States Air Force Reserve from 1967-1971, staff for United States Representative James H. Weaver of Oregon from 1977-1982, a member of the Lane County, Oregon board of commissioners from 1983-1986, the chair of the Lane County, Oregon board of commissioners from 1985-1986, and was an unsuccessful candidate for nomination to the United States Senate in a special primary election in 1995. He was elected as a Democrat to the 100th and to the fifteen succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1987-present).
