Biography

John R. Curtis, a Representative from Utah was born in Ogden, Weber County, Utah on May 10, 1960. He graduated from Skyline High School, Salt Lake City, UT in 1978, before attending the University of Utah in 1979. He earned his B.S. from Brigham Young University in Provo in 1985.

A sales representative, business executive, and unsuccessful candidate for Utah state senate in 2000 and the Utah state house of representatives in 2007, he served as Mayor of Provo, Utah from 2009-2017.

He was elected as a Republican to the 115th Congress by special election to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Representative Jason Chaffetz (November 7, 2017-present).
